To apply for a Residential Permit for an addition to a dwelling you will need:

a.  Building/Zoning permit application
b.  Contractor Identification Form (all contractors must have a valid Fauquier County Business License)
c.  Shrink/Swell Soils Form
d.  Asbestos Certification Form   

2.  2 sets of building plans.

3.  2 copies of a plat showing the house and addition drawn to scale, the distances from the structure to all property lines, driveway, and all areas being disturbed for clearing, a drainfield, etc. 

4.  If the property has recently transferred ownership and the new owner is not reflected yet in Real Estate records, a copy of the deed is required.

5.  Adding additional bedrooms on private well and septic must provide a copy of the HD construction permit indicating the total number of bedrooms allowed or the SAP (Safe, adequate & proper) form completed from the Health Department office.  If adding new bathrooms on public water/sewer we will need approvals from the public utility provider.

6.  Fees:  Vary significantly depending on size and features of the addition.  Minimum fees are collected at time of application submittal.  See Fee Schedule for all fees and the amount of Minimum Fees due with application.  Fees are payable by exact cash, credit card or check – starter checks will NOTTải game bắn cá be accepted. Credit cards accepted are Visa, MasterCard & Discover and will only be accepted in person.  A convenience fee of 2.5% will be added to all credit card transactions.  

Note:  A Land Disturbing Permit may also be required for larger additions.

Review and Approval Process

Once all materials are submitted, the application is reviewed by Zoning staff, E&S staff and the Building Plans Reviewer.   See Plan Review Tải game bắn cáfor more detail about the Building Plans Review process.

Tải game bắn cáThe review process generally takes 2-3 weeks if plans are complete at time of first submission.  If not, additional time is required for resubmission and review.  

Once all reviews are complete Permitting staff will contact the applicant to let them know the permit is ready to issue. 

Issuance

When returning to pick up the permit you will need to pay the remaining fees.  The balance due will be provided by Permitting staff when they call.

Construction

Occupancy

In certain circumstances, a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is required before the space may be utilized.   The CO cannot be issued until the following are completed/provided:

  1. All building inspections passed.
  2. It may take up to 48 hours to process your CO.
